But with our Home Protection Plan, you can have peace of mind knowing these issues will be resolved. From servicing water heaters to ensuring cooling systems are set for the hot L.A. summer, we’re specialized in the different, abrupt problems that can occur throughout the year.

We’ll examine how the Wrench Plumbing, Heating & Air Home Protection Plan (HPP) includes the following benefits for only $175 a year.

  • Heating and cooling maintenance and tune-up
  • Water heater flush
  • Priority service
  • Dedicated phone line
  • No service call fee
  • Exclusive specials and savings

By the end of this article, you’ll have a clear idea of what to expect with the HPP so you can decide if this is a suitable plan for your home.

Let’s get started!

What Is the Monkey Wrench Plumbing, Heating & Air Home Protection Plan?

The Home Protection Plan from Monkey Wrench Plumbing, Heating & Air is an annual subscription service for heating and cooling systems, plumbing, and water heaters. The cost for the Home Protection Plan is $175 a year and lasts a year from the date of purchase.

The plan is automatically renewed on the date it was purchased. Reminders are sent out when the renewal date is approaching.

Registration for the HPP can be completed online, by contacting our customer service, or through our technicians in the field. The process takes a few minutes and requires a homeowner to provide their contact information and leave a card on file.

Registering for the Home Protection Plan is available for new and existing homeowners. Homeowners can cancel anytime without any cancellation fees. Once the membership is canceled, homeowners will not have any of the perks from the Home Protection Plan. Refunds aren’t guaranteed and are issued on a case-by-case basis.

Once a homeowner is signed up as a member, they can take advantage of various benefits.

What Is Included in the Home Protection Plan?

There are various benefits associated with the Home Protection Plan. An HPP member can enjoy the following benefits.

  • Savings: The best part of the HPP isn’t just the peace of mind it provides homeowners but the savings associated with it. By signing up, you can potentially save hundreds of dollars on preventative maintenance costs and inspection fees.
  • No service call fee: A service call costs $89 per visit, but the price is waived with the HPP. As a member, you can call multiple times a year and not have to pay the service call fee each time, saving you money.
  • Dedicated phone line & priority service: As a member of the Home Protection Plan, you can jump to the front of our phone lines instead of waiting for the next available representative to take your call. As a member of the HPP, you gain priority access to a technician. This means our technicians will ensure they’re always available during our regular business hours to address your issue as soon as possible.
  • Monthly specials only for HPP members: Every month, HPP members receive exclusive email offers for services.
  • Transferable membership: If you move houses while your Home Protection Plan is active, you can transfer the membership to your new home as long as it’s within Monkey Wrench’s service area.

These are just some of the perks provided by the Home Protection Plan. Two other perks involve maintenance and tune-ups for heating and cooling systems, along with water heater flushes and plumbing evaluation.

In the following section, we’ll break down the savings available for the heating and cooling portion of the Home Protection Plan.

20 Touch Point Heating & Cooling Tune-Up

The Home Protection Plan provides savings on heating and cooling maintenance and tune-ups. The 20-touch-point heating and cooling tune-up regularly costs $149 per system. Whereas with the Home Protection Plan, members do not have to worry about paying that price.

An HPP member can contact Monkey Wrench Plumbing, Heating & Air for a heating tune-up in the winter and cooling system maintenance in the summer and not have to pay the combined cost of $298.

If a house has more than one heating and cooling system, then each one can be included in the Home Protection Plan. Each extra heating and cooling system can be added for $99.

Whether you decide on a cooling and/or heating system tune-up, you can expect a thorough inspection. We’ll break down what’s included in the heating system inspection, followed by the cooling system.

Heating

As a perk, Home Protection Plan members receive tune-up inspections for their heating systems. When members contact Monkey Wrench for a heating system check-up, they can expect the following service.

  • Inspect heat exchangers for leakages or cracks.
  • Check for any carbon monoxide leakage.
  • Inspect ignition sequence for proper operation.
  • Check for gas valve operation and gas leakage.
  • Check condensate pumps and drain lines.
  • Check temperature rise and adjust to the proper level.
  • Inspect high-pressure safety controls.
  • Check surrounding areas for fire hazards.
  • Inspect the inducer motor and combustion air supply.
  • Inspect flame sensors and roll out safeties.

Heating systems help keep homes warm during cold weather. With yearly maintenance, heating systems can continue to operate efficiently and ensure you have heat when needed. Just like heating systems, cooling systems can also benefit from annual inspections.

Cooling

The Home Protection Plan membership includes cooling systems tune-up inspection. Here’s a look at what’s included in this inspection.

  • Inspect the amperage of components.
  • Check the wiring and tighten weak connections.
  • Check the motor, blower, and bearings for wear.
  • Oil and lubricate bearings as needed.
  • Check refrigerant pressures.
  • Inspect the compressor and start and run capacitors.
  • Inspect electrical and contactors for wear.
  • Check and replace standard air filters for proper flow. High-efficiency particulate absorbing filter available for an additional cost.
  • Inspect the evaporator coil connection. Evaporator coil sanitizing is available at an extra cost.
  • Check for damaged condenser coils. Optional acid cleaning is available for an additional cost.

When temperatures in Los Angeles reach triple digits, having the operation of a cooling system at full efficiency comes in handy. By maintaining a cooling system, homeowners can feel at ease knowing their homes stay cool in the summer.

Aside from cooling and heating systems tune-ups, the Home Protection Plan also extends services to water heaters and includes a plumbing evaluation.

Water Heater Flush

The Home Protection Plan includes services for water heaters and plumbing. Part of home ownership involves ensuring fixtures like water heaters and plumbing are working fine.

Tankless Water Heater

If your house has a tankless water heater, you can take advantage of the flushing service offered by the Home Protection Plan. A tankless water heater flush, that is normally $249 per system, includes the following.

  • Descale the heat exchanger.
  • Clean the burner assembly.
  • Check gas and manifold pressures.
  • Inspect the flame and ignition rods.
  • Clean out the blower and exhaust.

The membership only applies to a single water heater, but homes with more than one water heater can include additional units for only $99.

The regular cost for a tank style water heater flush is $125 and consists of the following service.

  • Inspect the water heater for damage or scale buildup.
  • Drain the water heater.
  • Flush the water heater to get rid of any sediment buildup.
  • Inspect the water heater for any leaks.

The service extends to any additional conventional water heater that a home may have for $99 for each extra water heater.

Whether you have a tankless or tank water heater, flushing service is included in the Monkey Wrench Home Protection Plan.
