Yom Tov is celebrated a few times throughout the year and provides people with the opportunity to self-reflect and spend time with their loved ones. There are a number of laws that are observed during Yom Tov, such as not using electronic devices or creating a new flame. This can be confusing when it comes to figuring out if you can use your Navien tankless water heater while complying with Yom Tov.
For over 15 years, we’ve helped homeowners prepare for Yom Tov by providing them with instructions and reminders to prepare their tankless water heaters for the Jewish holiday. We work closely with the top brands, such as Navien, to ensure that any homeowner throughout Los Angeles and the surrounding area is able to use hot water and remain in compliance with Yom Tov traditions.
Tankless water heaters create a new flame whenever there’s a hot water demand, but thanks to recirculation lines and pumps, you can have access to hot water and still celebrate Yom Tov. By the end of this article, you’ll know how to set your Navien tankless water heater’s recirculation settings so you and your family can enjoy continued access to hot water.
Let’s dive in!
Steps to Prepare My Navien Tankless Water Heater for Yom Tov
The steps for setting up your Navien tankless water heater depend on whether it has an internal or external recirculation pump. Tankless water heaters create a flame on demand, which is against Yom Tov, but recirculation lines can bypass that. Recirculation pumps keep a steady flow of heated water circulating through the water lines.
Recirculation lines provide hot water faster and are energy efficient. Navien offers tankless water heaters compatible with external recirculation pumps and units with internal pumps.
It’s important to note that both sets of tankless water heaters require a dedicated return line. If there’s no return line, Navien offers a NaviCirc, a recirculation valve that can be installed and act as a dedicated return line. If you’re unsure whether your home has one, contact a professional technician to schedule a visit and help you prepare your Navien tankless water heater for Yom Tov.
In the next section, we’ll look at how to prepare your Navien tankless water heater for Yom Tov if it has an internal recirculation pump.
